Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Here are some tried and true tricks I have tried while cooking my Thanksgiving meal that are always croud pleasers!
Mashed Potatoes:
Most just mix in salt, pepper, milk and butter into thier mashed potatoes. However, I like to add sour cream, some of my turkey drippings with bacon, some heavy whipping cream along with milk, and lots of fresh minced garlic.
Turkey:
When I make my turkey I like to rub a butter seasoning rub to the skin of the turkey as well as under the skin. Then I broil it for about 10-15 minutes to get some nice color to the skin. After that I cook it for the alloted time per weight with bacon strips on top to help the skin from burning as well as keep the moisture in.
Gravy:
As I mentioned earlier I like to cover my turkey in bacon. When the turkey is done I pour the drippings into a saucepan along with the bacon. I cut the bacon up with kitchen scissors inside the saucepan. I then add about 1/4 cup flour and stir. I let that boil for a good while whisking frequently. Once it has thickened I then add a jar of turkey gravy becuase there never seems to be enough gravy from just the drippings. Let is boil a little longer and it is ready!
